Jo Banning is a former “Hockeyroo” who has transferred her “on-field” commitment to sport to off the field with her studies and working experience both in Australia and abroad. Jo has university qualifications in Public Relations, Media, Education and Human Movement and has worked in the sports media industry for over ten years in various communications roles for organisations such as Australian Olympic Committee and Manchester United.

Jo is the current Executive Manager of Communications for the reigning National Rugby League Premiers, St George Illawarra Dragons, where she is accountable for the Club’s overall Communications Strategy and leads a team of four full time staff including a focus on digital content development and implementation.

‪Danny Bishop

Creative Director

On an average day you’ll find Danny scouring the web and brainstorming to make sure that IMG STG continues to refine and improve the systems made available to their sporting clients. Danny graduated from Victoria University in 2005 after completing a BA (Multimedia) degree majoring in both Professional Writing and Communications.

Danny joined Blue Pebble Digital in 2006 where he has worked with sporting organisations such as the Essendon Football Club, Cricket Australia and ANZ Championship to refine their digital brand and guide their use of social media. Blue Pebble and IMG STG joined forces in late 2010 giving both sets of clients access to boutique social media and digital brand experience backed by the most trusted name in online sport management.

Ben Hart

AFL Players Association

Public Affairs Manager

Ben Hart is a former journalist and media adviser who began his career at the Herald Sun in 1998, before leaving to work in the Premiers’ Media Unit in the Victorian Government in 2001. There he worked for various ministers before being appointed Chief of Staff to the then Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Gavin Jennings. He moved to the AFL Players’ Association early last year to take up the position of Public Affairs Manager, overseeing the development of a new digital strategy for the organisation.

Nick Monroe

Milwaukee Bucks

Senior Sales & Retention Executive

Nick Monroe, 28, is in his seventh season with the Bucks and third as Senior Sales & Retention Executive. In his role, Monroe is responsible for generating revenue through season ticket sales and renewals, internet marketing & branding, partnership activation and manages day-to-day social media operations. The NBA has recognized the Milwaukee Bucks with the 2010-11 Best in Service Satisfaction Award.

Monroe is active in the Milwaukee community through his work on the Executive Board of the Young Milwaukee Charitable Organization and Ryan 4 Ryan Celebration.

Prior to joining the Bucks, Monroe worked for at Sanford Business-to-Business where he supported the Paper Mate, Sharpie, Expo and uni-ball brands

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in Internet and Database Marketing Monroe is a native of Shorewood, Wisconsin. He resides on Milwaukee’s East Side

Kyle Spencer

Golden State Warriors

Executive Director, Team Marketing

Kyle Spencer is in his 13th season with the Warriors and his fourth as executive director of team marketing, managing the team’s marketing, digital marketing, creative services and database departments. In this role, Spencer oversees the day-to-day marketing efforts for the organization using online, print, television, social media, e-mail, grass roots and radio mediums to develop and activate integrated marketing opportunities for each of the organizations’ departments. He has been instrumental in leading the Warriors expansion into innovative social media marketing campaigns and leveraging new, unique and efficient ways of presenting the organization and communicating with the public.

A 16-year member of the NBA community, Spencer entered the league with the Seattle SuperSonics in 1995-96 as a media relations assistant and enjoyed a trip to the NBA Finals in his first year. He joined the Warriors as assistant director of public relations prior to the 1998-99 season and spent five years in that capacity before moving to the marketing side as director of internet communications during the 2002-03 campaign.

Spencer graduated from California State University, Chico in 1994 with a degree in Journalism. A Bay Area native, he currently lives in Moraga with his wife, Adrianne, and twin boys.

Kim Trengove

Tennis Australia

eCommunications Manager

Communications specialist Kim Trengove leads the digital media team at Tennis Australia, creating content and across multiple platforms including web, video, mobile, social media and print. Starting her career as a journalist for the Melbourne Sun newspaper, she was a freelance writer, and columnist for many publications including The Age, Bulletin and New Idea. A former editor of Australian Tennis Magazine and author of Out of Character, Conversations with Australian Actors (Penguin), Kim transferred her skills to the web in the late ‘90s and now oversees one of the biggest websites in Australian sport, www.australianopen.com, as well as Tennis Australia’s mother website, www.tennis.com.au. In addition she edited the official Australian Open program and is organiser of the Australian Open Short Film Festival – Changing Ends.

Clare Wolfensohn

Rugby World Cup 2011

Manager, Online and Communications Projects

After graduating with a degree in sport and leisure management, and having since worked in the sports industry for the better part of a decade, Clare Wolfensohn was a natural choice to speak at Digital Sport Summit. After starting out her sports marketing career at the International Paralympic Committee, she then moved to Netball Australia where she was the Design and Product Manager for over two years.

In 2009 she joined the special project that is the Rugby World Cup management team. It is a two-year project charged with the task of ensuring the smooth running of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, to be held in New Zealand. Working as the Manager of Online and Communications Projects which involves aspects of web and social media, Clare’s team is responsible for the sales target of 1.4 million tickets worth $268 million NZD for the six-week tournament.  With eight months to go, they are on track with 60% of the tickets sold and 85,000 international visitors confirmed.
