With the AFL having recently signed a deal for $1.25 Million in the latest round of media rights, and a reported deal in excess of $100 million for internet rights. We will delve into successful case studies of online usage overseas, how the AFL will be broadcasting all games live to mobile devices, and how traditional media will be impacted.

‘Front and centre,’ it was the phrase my junior football coach couldn’t get enough of, and for me seems a nice catch-cry for social media use in any member based sporting organisation.

In football lexicons, ‘front and centre’ is where coaches want their players to be. At the foot of the contest, where the ball is, right in the thick of it. In the communications mix, social media puts fans ‘front and centre,’ up close and personal with their favourite codes, teams and players.
